Lead contamination from sanding, cutting and demolition is a safety hazard waiting to happen during repairs and renovations to properties built before 1978. The NEW Environmental Protection Agency’s Renovation, Repair & Painting (RRP) Lead Law, effective April 22, 2010, requires that anyone paid for repairs or improvements to residential or child occupied properties built before 1978 must be certified by the EPA in safe lead removal and adhere to specific procedures for preventing toxic lead exposure.
